Bradley Woods & Co. was founded in 1970 as a boutique firm offering distinctive, independent research focused on the impact of the U.S. Federal Government actions on the capital markets. The firm’s founders – drawing on talent developed in the research department of Mitchell Hutchins (now UBS Securities) and Oppenheimer & Co. (now CIBC World Markets) – joined forces with Washington, D.C. insiders to create a unique political research product. Leveraging knowledge of the mechanics and dynamics of government, the firm’s original goal was to digest the inner workings of the U.S. Federal Government’s activities, and to interpret their impact on equity and fixed income securities in the U.S.
Over time, the firm expanded to offer original research in telecommunications, healthcare, energy and defense. Bradley Woods & Co. developed dedicated resources to inform clients about such critical issues as impending tax legislation, social security and national healthcare. The firm also offered analyses of U.S. foreign policy ranging from the Middle East to Asia.
In 2004, firm President, Daniel Ripp, reoriented the business to build out the investment banking arm of Bradley Woods & Co. This remains the firm's core suite of services today, alongside advisory, and bespoke consulting services for clients preparing to approach investors directly.
